Plot
Chihayafuru is about a sixth grade girl called Ayase Chihaya and her dream is for her sister to become Japan's top model. But one day a transfer student, Wataya Arata says to her that a dream is something that you have to work at yourself. Arata's dream is to become the Master/King of a japanese card-game involving poetry called Karuta, after Chihaya plays one match with Arata and see's how intense it is, and she falls in love with it. Soon after her friend Mashima Taichi is also captivated by Karuta and all three of them have one. But that soon ends as they're forced to go their own seperate way after graduating from grade school.
Four years later Chihaya she meets Taichi in high school and she discovers that Arata no longer plays Karuta!!!
